Fawn (nFw/FwFw) (Common)

Category: Rixixi
Species: Rixixi

Causes spots lighter than base coat, should be somewhat uniform in sizes/shapes.

  • Fawn causes spots in a small-medium size, typically clustered together in a few separate areas. All fawn spots should be around the same size range - some minor size discrepancy is fine, and most often occurs on the outside of a cluster. They should be in a somewhat uniform pattern, the uniformity ranging from the spots on a fawn's back to more scale-like patterns.
  • Must be lighter than the base coat.
  • Edges should be hard, and not heavily textured. Light texturing is okay, but take care not to go overboard.
  • Fawn can appear anywhere on the ixi. It is most commonly found on the back, but this is not mandatory!

Fissure (nFssr/FssrFssr) (Common)

Category: Rixixi
Species: Rixixi
A stripe along the back. Can be any color.

Range:

Rixixi Skunk by magmatixiRixixi Primal Skunk by magmatixi
Rixixi Domestic Skunk by magmatixi

  • Fissure shares a range with Skunk nSku/SkuSku, with some changes to how the rules work - Fissure must display in the middle of the back, with stripes on the side being optional. Side stripes can travel down 50% of the body maximum, and can start and end at any point.
  • If Fissure only displays along the back, it should not be a thick enough stripe to cover the entire range. Side and back stripes should have a noticeable gap between them, but can meet at the ends if desired.
  • Fissure may be any color, and may display up to two colors within the marking, which may be blended together.
  • Edge may be hard, textured, or somewhat soft. It should not be fully blended out.

Gradient (nGr/GrGr) (Common)

Category: Rixixi
Species: Rixixi

Allows the base coat to show as a gradient. Gradient must be between colors that exist on the assigned base coat's sliders. Dominant Gradient can alter markings as well.

  • Recessive Gradient appears only on the base coat, and should appear somewhere on the base coat - amount does not matter so long as it is visible.
  • Gradient can between any colors from either of the swatches from the Rixixi's associated base coat. For instance, if your Rixixi is Skyburn with Gradient, you are allowed to take the hot pink from the bottom swatch and the orange-red from the top swatch and blend them together! You can also go for a subtler gradient and choose colors on the sliders that are closer together.
  • Take care not to make Gradient too closely resemble pangare, sable, or other similar markings!
  • Recessive Gradient must be locked to the base coat, but Dominant Gradient can also alter markings to have a gradient in them, either using the Rixixi's base coat swatches for gradient colors, or basing the gradient colors off the marking color rules (such as 'lighter or darker than base coat' or 'any colors').

Groundbreaking (nGbk/GbkGbk) (Common)

Category: Rixixi
Species: Rixixi

Creates crackles across the body of the Rixixi, in any color, including bright ones. Can be two-toned.

  • Groundbreaking can be any color, and may display up to two colors within the marking, which may be blended together.
  • It should appear as a streak of color that branches off, as if making a "crack" or "lightning bolt" shape.
  • It should be hard or textured-edged.
  • Groundbreaking has no minimum, and can appear on multiple places on the Rixixi's body. It should not cover more than roughly 50% of the Rixixi.

Hexagon (nHex/HexHex) (Common)

Category: Rixixi
Species: Rixixi
Creates hexagonal or similarly shaped markings anywhere on the body. Typically clusters together in patches. Can be multiple colors.

  • Hexagon can be any color, including bright ones, and may be three-toned.
  • It should be shaped like a pattern of hexagons, octagons, pentagons, or similar geometrical shapes. It can be rough and "natural" looking, like a giraffe's spots.

Range:

Rixixi Hood by magmatixiRixixi Primal Hood by magmatixiRixixi Domestic Hood by magmatixi

  • Hood may be a lighter or darker shade of the base coat, including black and white.
  • Hood does not have a restriction on edge hardness.
  • Hood should, at minimum, create a visible ring around the neck.
  • There can only be breaks in the marking if it's creating multiple rings around the neck. The shoulder and/or head region, if present, must consist of a single unbroken marking.

Merle (nMer/MerMer) (Common)

Category: Rixixi
Species: Rixixi

Large, desaturated patches on the Rixixi's body, often containing dappled patches of the original base coat within.

  • Can be translucent to show the markings underneath! Markings dislaying on top of Merle can be desaturated or display normally.
  • Edges can be textured, soft, or blended. If blended, the entire marking should not be blended out and should still have a section that registers as a solid patch.
  • Must be more desaturated and/or lighter than the base coat.
  • Can be fullbody or covering partial sections of the body. Should contain holes in the marking or spots of the base coat.
  • Should appear, at minimum, on 30% of the design. Can appear in multiple patches.

Unlike in Earth dogs, there are no known health problems for Rixixi caused by homozygous Merle.
You can go against this if you like for your own personal characters' lore, this note is just here to let folks know that it won't result in negative effects and rad sicknesses when bred for.

E. Porphyria (+EryPor) (Common)

Species: Rixixi

Short for Erythropoietic Porphyria, this mutation is caused by a deficit in certain molecular components that causes blood cells to break down and build up waste products in other parts of the body, such as the teeth and bones. That is to say, the teeth, nails, and any bony mutations of the Rixixi are blood-colored.

While Erythropoietic Porphyria is a medical problem in real life, and can affect Rixixi negatively in lore, this will not result in rad sicknesses being rolled due to it being present in a breeding.
Please feel free to apply realistic limitations or ignore them as you please for your own characters! Play the game however you like.

E. Porphyria, by default, appears as a red or brownish-red coloration to the teeth:
Rixixi Eryporphyria Example 2 by magmatixi

This color can change if the Rixixi's blood color is different for any reason:
Rixixi Eryporphyria Example 3 by magmatixi

The coloration is not limited to the teeth - nails can be blood-colored as well, as well as any mutation that could logically be considered made of bone or a similar material such as Horns, Problems (the teeth, bone, and skull layers), Translucence/Partial Translucence, the spines of Tail Spike, and so on.
Rixixi Eryporphyria Example1 by magmatixi

Additionally:

  • While (in real life) Erythropoietic Poryphyria can cause the affected areas to glow under UV lights, this typically will not show up on the import. It will show up if Ultraviolet +UV is present, and even without Ultraviolet, feel free to show glowing teeth/nails/bones in art, and even include a reference in your Ixi's Personality section!
  • It is not mandatory to alter the color of anything but the teeth of the Ixi.

Hypno Eyes (+X-Hyp) (Common)

Species: Rixixi

Rings run through the Ixi's eyes. Heterochromia is very common in this mutation.

  • While there is a base to use for Hypno Eyes, it can be drawn in freely without requiring a Mutation Station.
  • Hypno Eyes should have many rings and/or other hypnotic, optical illusion themes (such as how amrahK has a checkerboard pattern in their eyes)
  • Does have to match any existing eye color rules (such as from albinism).
  • Can be strange shapes without contact lenses.

Polydactyl +PlyD (Common)

Species: Rixixi

MORE THUMBS

  • Markings in the area can extend to this mutation. Markings that cover limbs can also affect Polydactyl.
  • Additional thumbs can be added. Thumbs may be moved around on the hand to create strange types of hand.
  • The dewclaws on the back feet are optional and can be removed without a scarification kit.

Phoenix Trails (+X-PhoeT) (Common)

Species: Rixixi

Long feathers sprout from the Ixi, often centering just above the tail in a decorative display.

  • Markings in the area can extend to this mutation.
  • A  Mutation Station can change the shape into any sort of decorative feathers - for example, a crest on the head, long plumes decorating the body or face, and so on. Tropical birds and peacocks are good sources of inspiration, but anything flashy and showy works well for Phoenix Trails, and it doesn't have to be found on a real bird.

Four Eyes (+X-EyeF) (Common)

Species: Rixixi

An extra pair of eyes sprout over the Ixi's main pair.

  • Can optionally match the color of the main pair of eyes, but does not have to, as heterochromia is free to use.
  • Does have to match any existing eye color rules (such as from albinism).
  • Does have to match the existing rules on pupil shape (must match the shape of an existing earth animal if not using contact lenses - something strange like a cuttlefish is fine!)

Bird Limbs (+X-Bird) (Common)

Species: Rixixi

A hard, scaly skin covers the limbs of the Ixi - most commonly the front limbs - somewhat reminiscent of an avian form.

  • Can be any color lighter or darker than the base coat, can be any marking color on the Rixixi, can be any natural skin tone color, or can be any color on the base coat swatch.
  • Markings in the area can extend to this mutation.
  • A shine effect can be freely added to this mutation.

This mutation was updated in August 2019 to improve the art - the old art is still legal to use and will not be rejected in design approval. The Standard version of the old art is still available in the Starter Starter Pack if you preferred it.

Alternate design packs exist for this mutation:
Starters' Starter Pack

Bushy Tail (+X-BushT) (Common)

Species: Rixixi

A medium-sized, fluffy tail, often compared to a fox's!

  • Markings in the area can extend to this mutation.

Presentation with Contradicting Mutations:

Multiple Tail Mutations:

When multiple tail mutations present in the same geno without Multi Tail, any of the following approaches can be taken:

-The tails can be edited so that they all appear at once. As long as the tails appear at roughly their original size and shape, no Mutation Station is required. Lenience is given for size/shape here, as tails may need to be shrunk to better show the other tails, etc.

-Parts of the tails can be taken and pieced together into one tail - eg. Mackerel's fins on a Whip Tail, a Tail Spike on a Bushy Tail, etc. A mutation station is only required here for heavy customization.

-One tail can show, leaving other tails in the geno as invisible carriers. All tails in the geno can still pass in breeding, but they do not have to show in the design if there's just too many tails to work with.

Feathered Tail (X-FeaT) (Common)

Species: Rixixi

A tuft of feathers covers the very base of the Ixi's tail.

  • Markings in the area can extend to this mutation.
  • Unlike other Tail mutations, Feathered Tail does not replace the existing tail, but instead lays on top of it. Multiple Scarification Kits (or a Void Poison) are required to amputate the non-feathered tail.

Gallus Face (+X-GallF) (Common)

Species: Rixixi

A rooster-like comb and wattle.

  • Can be any color lighter or darker than the base coat, can be any marking color on the Rixixi, can be any natural skin tone color, or can be any color on the base coat swatch.
  • Markings in the area can extend to this mutation.
  • A Scarification Kit can amputate the comb or the wattle, but one of the features should still be visible. (For example. the Pig Farmer only has wattles.)
  • A Mutation Station can change the shape into any sort of crest or wattle - this is not limited to rooster-like shapes or even avian shapes. Any sort of crest - even those found in dinosaurs, or fantasy versions thereof - works when making a mutation station edit to Gallus combs. Any sort of dewlap or wattle, including those of mammals and reptiles, works for the wattle piece.
