Rooter

Art by Anarchisme

A large, pig-shaped saurian native to Sxriix, this creature is often tamed and domesticated for a myriad of uses. Commonly, domesticated Rooters are used as mounts or for searching for rare root vegetables and other buried objects, but their docile nature makes them a lovely companion for many Rixixi, so long as their habit of digging quite literally wherever they can think of can be dealt with.

Mini Rooter

Art by Anarchisme

A domestic breed of Rooters that are half the size or smaller of the average Rooter due to careful breeding. Often have cute and/or bright patterning, and some are bred to have their 'baby stripes' as a permanent marking. Worth noting for any future Rooter owner that these beasts are still about hip height to half the height of a Rixixi at the shoulder when fully grown, and they have a compulsion to take their adorable little nose with its adorable little horn and root around in anything they can. Typically owned by treasure hunters or someone with enough time to train a young rooter what's safe to root in and what isn't.

<a href="http://chasmho.me/world/items?name=Grand Old Rooter" class="display-item">Grand Old Rooter</a>

Grand Old Rooter

Art by Anarchisme
Only some wild species of Rooter are capable of reaching this size. Some rooters never stop growing as they age, their shells becoming spiny and grizzled as their bodies become long and somewhat graceful when compared to the funny, pig-like saurians they once were. These creatures - originally called Racharruuroos (Dragon-rootdiggers) by Rixixi enamored by their legendary size and shape, and called Grand Old Rooters by humans familiar with hunting terminology, though the human term caught on as wordplay due to the grand size of the elderly rooters.

Most Grand Old Rooters are protective of what they care about - for some, their families and herd. For some, their companions. For wandering loners, it may simply be their territory. Their towering size and overgrown shell allows them to stand firm against attacks, and if multiple Grand Old Rooters have grown old in a herd together, they can make a formidable defense for the young in it.

Obtained:
Hunting: Rare (Legendary)

Legendary Companions roll low - roll cannot be boosted by stats or items.

Use:

  • Companion! Can be equipped to a Rixixi and grant that Rixixi its ability. Companions can be equipped, unequipped, and moved between Rixixi at will with no ill effect.

Grand Old Rooter: Keeping the Herd Together
: If the Rixixi this Legendary Companion is attached to has a Grand Old Rooter (including this one), a Rooter, and a Mini Rooter, all Rooters of any type (including Rooters owned by other Rixixi in the image) count as Rixixi when lowering a Legendary Hunting failure chance, and they count towards the final stat pool (Grand Old Rooters have 250/350/200/100, Rooters have 100/150/100/50, and Mini Rooters have 50/50/50/50).
